About Me

Hey there, welcome to my small piece of the Internet. My name is Genevieve, although I more commonly go by Gigi.

As you can probably tell from browsing this site, my life mainly consists of doubting my creative abilities as an HSP, trying to make sense of the absurdity of my own existence, and incessantly critiquing modern capitalist society, aside from all the “normal” stuff I do.

I guess like many “content creators”, I should probably write something succinct here that encapsulates my “brand”, but I’m not a product on a shelf—and this website isn’t trying to sell you anything except maybe a laugh—so I’ll just leave you with a little bit about myself.

My Story

I was born and raised in Los Angeles, a city I don’t like, before moving to New York City, a city I thought I would like, to pursue a bachelor’s degree.

As it turns out, though, the hustle and bustle of NYC (and the price tag of a college education in one of the most expensive cities in the world) wasn’t for me, so with my UK passport in hand, I dropped out of school to set off on a different kind of adventure.

Taking advantage of my EU citizenship before Brexit was due to kick in, I hopped around a number of European cities. I studied Italian in Florence, Italy, worked in a hostel in Marseille, France, and did an internship in London, UK.

However, since I’m a nerd, I ultimately went back to school in Lyon, France, where I completed a bachelor’s degree in political science after an Erasmus exchange in The Hague, Netherlands in 2022.

At time of writing in June 2025, I have just finished a second bachelor’s degree in economics and mathematics. I work as an English teacher, writer and journalist and split my time between London, UK and Lyon, France. You can find my writings on politics and economics at Politicized.

When I’m not writing (my main passion in life), I like to make Youtube videos, draw silly cartoons, cook elaborate meals, and try not to get hit by a car while riding my bike (death to urban sprawl!).

I hope you enjoy my work.
